4Freedom Philippines – a grassroots movement<\/h4>\n

Our organization works to protect vulnerable children and families from exploitation, abuse, and trafficking by building strong community partnerships and providing direct interventions. We run awareness and prevention programs in schools, churches, and communities to equip children and caregivers with knowledge and skills for safety. Alongside this, we offer family-strengthening initiatives, such as mentoring, caregiver training, and support networks, to reduce risks that lead to exploitation. Finally, we collaborate with other organizations to build an excellent bank of partners who can collaborate together on core projects to reach those that need help the most in society.<\/p>\n

This ministry is all about walking through life together<\/strong>. At the heart of the 4Freedom values is the desire that no young person should feel alone. Within the framework of the church, youth are empowered to reach out into their local communities to select a younger ‘brother’ or ‘sister’. Through partnership with the corresponding families, they create life-giving friendships where youth mentor and journey alongside those who are younger and more vulnerable. It’s about choosing to be present, to listen, and to model Jesus\u2019 love in everyday life.<\/p>\n

Cultural factors also contribute to OSEC in the Philippines. In some communities, there is a lack of awareness about child sexual abuse, and there may be a perception that it is not a significant issue. This can make it difficult for children to report abuse or for adults to take action to prevent it.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement agencies in the Philippines face challenges in investigating and prosecuting OSEC cases. The lack of resources, training, and technology can hinder their efforts to identify and apprehend perpetrators.<\/p>\n

In this part of Cebu Province, there have been reported cases of OSAEC, and the issues mentioned above are also prevalent. However, local organizations and authorities, including 4Freedom have been working to raise awareness about OSAEC to children at risk and provide support to OSAEC survivors and their families.<\/p>\n

The Philippines is an archipelago of over 7,100 islands, <\/span>with only around 2,000 of them inhabited.<\/span> It is located in\u00a0southeastern Asia between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The two largest islands, Luzon and Mindanao, make up for two-thirds of the total land area. 4Freedom is based in a town called Cordova, in the province of Cebu which is right in the middle.<\/span><\/p>\n
